Harbor Expands to L.A., London

The postproduction facility has also added services in New York.

The Harbor Picture Co. has expanded to Los Angeles and London and added to its services in New York.


The new state-of-the-art L.A. studio, located at 2902 Nebraska Ave. in Santa Monica, supports five grading theaters for feature-film, episodic and commercial productions. Private connectivity to Harbor NY and Harbor UK facilitates real-time color-grading sessions, visual-effects reviews and options to conform and deliver in any location.



Harbor’s L.A. staff includes colorist Yvan Lucas, who has more than 200 credits to his name, most recently Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. He is joined by colorists Elodie Ichter, Katie Jordan and Billy Hobson. Paul O’Shea leads the visual-effects teams, tapping Yuichiro “Yama” Yamashita for 3-D and Q Choi for 2-D. The team’s brand clients include Nike, McDonald's, Coke, Adidas, Samsung, LG, Sony, Toyota, Honda, Amazon and Dolby. 


Russ Robertson joins Harbor LA as executive vice president of sales, features and episodic after a 20-year career with Deluxe and Panavision. “I am so happy to continue my career with a company that has a singular vision,” says Robertson. “Harbor has redefined how postproduction services should be offered, and with the expansion to L.A. and London, we can now offer our creative talent in three of the largest production centers in the world.”


The new U.K. operation, based in London (82 Baker St.) and Windsor (55-57 High St.), will offer in-lab and near-set dailies services along with robust and automated visual-effects pulls and delivery. Commercial Director James Corless and Operations Director Thom Berryman will lead the staff, following distinguished careers with Pinewood Studios.


“Harbor’s mission to provide bespoke craft artistry at scale led us to expand from New York to L.A. and London so we can support filmmakers wherever they need us across the globe,” says Harbor CEO Zak Tucker. “Our new operations are helmed by industry leaders who provide high-touch, fast-response and personalized service, which distinguishes Harbor from its competitors. We’ve invested heavily in our pool of creative talent as well as engineering, technical innovation and production staff. We want to protect, respect and support the artistic visions of everyone we work alongside.”


Harbor NY has grown its talent roster and Soho footprint to six locations, with a recently expanded offering for creative advertising. Artists on the commercial team include editors Bruce Ashley and Paul Kelly, visual-effects supervisor Andrew Granelli, colorist Adrian Seery and sound mixers Mark Turrigiano and Steve Perski. 



Harbor’s feature and episodic offerings continue to expand, making its N.Y.-based artists, such as senior colorists Joe Gawler and Roman Hankewycz, available in L.A. and London. The New York base is home to live-action, dailies, creative and offline editorial, offering filmmakers the opportunity to collaborate seamlessly with postproduction artists at the onset of production.
